Events dedicated to the new Regulation on data protection
Within June 2016, the representatives of the authority made presentations during two important events dedicated to the adoption of Regulation 679/2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and the free movement of such data, which will be applicable starting with 25th of May 2018.
Thus, on the 23rd of June 2016 the Conference “Data protection – solutions and responsibilities” took place at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania where Mr. Marius Bostan, the Minister for the Communications and Information Society gave a short presentation in the opening of the event. With the occasion of this event, where several guests from the private and public sector participated, the implications of the new General Regulation on Data Protection adopted by the European Parliament and Council were analyzed and the representatives of the supervisory authority presented the novelties brought by the new European regulation with a direct application. As it was organized in an interactive manner, this event highlighted the real interest of legal persons for the compliance with the requirements of the new Regulation.
On the 16th of June 2016 a workshop dedicated to the practical applicability of Regulation 679/2016 with the participation of multinational companies which are acting, especially, in the pharmaceutical, IT and retail domain. Within this event, the authority’s representatives gave a presentation with reference to the conditions for the transfer of personal data in third countries, which pointed out the new exigencies which will governs this type of processing.
In this context, we note the real interest of the public and private sector in order to ensure a real protection of personal data.
