During 11^th - 12^th, the seminar "Data protection for police and judicial cooperation in criminal matters: EU requirements", organised with TAIEX support, in cooperation with Academy of European Law, took place in Bucharest.

This meeting has reunited the representatives of all the authorities implicated in the preparation process of Romania's accession to the Schengen area, together with the experts of certain institutions from European Union and of Data Protection Authorities, considered to be an excellent opportunity for an experience exchange, taking into account the Schengen evaluation mission which will take place in the first part of 2009.

The national framework in the data protection field was presented by the representatives of the National Supervisory Authority for Personal Data Protection, presentation welcomed with a real interest among the participants.
